Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Kirby Muxloe.

The collision occurred at around 2pm on Friday May 29, 2009 on the B5380 roundabout approximated 20 metres north east of the A46 Northbound entry slip road.

It involved one vehicle, a white Seddon Atkinson refuse disposal vehicle, which left the road and was in collision with a lamp post.

One of the passengers, believed to be a man in his sixties, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other passenger received minor injuries and was treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The driver was not injured. 

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Simon Horton, who is the officer investigating the incident, said: “We are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle prior to the incident, to please get in touch with us.

“Any information, no matter how small it seem, could be essential to our investigation so please contact us.”
