Officers from Hinckley Local Policing Unit are investigating the report of a robbery on a 23-year-old woman.

The incident happened at around 5.20pm on Saturday May 30, when the victim and a friend were approached by a man and woman on Hill Street. The woman was known to the victim.

The woman demanded money from the victim and went on to assault her causing her to fall to the ground. The woman then took the victims bag from her arm emptied the contents onto the ground and took a quantity of cash from her purse. She then assaulted the victim again.

The woman and the man then left the victim and her friend and drove off in a red Volvo onto Castle Street.

The victim received minor injuries but has not received any treatment.

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the robbery and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Lindsay O’nion, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and that has information that could help us with our investigation.

“We are particularly keen to speak with two cars that stopped during the incident. One woman in a small silver car and dark coloured car with a man and woman in both pulled up and told to intervene. We believe that these people could hold information vital to our investigation and would urge them to contact us.”
