MBA- Masters of Business Acumen

Posted on 03/06/09
University of Leicester

On 8th June, the University of Leicester MBA class is hosting a major international conference to examine issues arising from the current recession.

Managing Turbulent Times will explore matters relevant to the business community, such as the key skills required for future growth and recovery.

Mr Charles Mbire, Chairman of MTN, Sponsors of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and a MBA graduate of the University of Leicester School of Management, will deliver the inaugural lecture on Entrepreneurship is key to managing the global economic crisis.

He will be joined by The Apprentice 2008 finalist Claire Young as well as Richard Day, the Chairman, Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce and Mrs Manjula Sood, a Leicester graduate and former Lord Mayor of Leicester among other invited guests.

This event is a great opportunity for local companies to explore cost effective business solutions available to them through our world renowned research units, said Alim Abubakre, one of the conference organizers

It is not always cost effective to cut down on jobs and training in a recession. Companies should rather look to invest in the skills and talents of the workforce.

Fellow MBA student Chidinma Agbamuche-Maduka added: Its time for businesses to think outside the box as innovation and novelty will determine the businesses that succeed in this financial uncertainty and this conference affords them the opportunity to take a step in the right direction.

The conference would provide an opportunity for Public-Private Partnership to be explored as Leading Edge, the Universitys employer engagement unit, Efficency Productivity Research Unit (EPRU) and Universitys Centre for Labor Market Studies (CLMS) would engage guests in what they can offer business through their exhibition stand.

Delegates attending the conference will have the opportunity of networking with academics who are working on developing practical oriented teaching programmes for the future, keeping in view the current financial crisis.

The conference, which is open to all and free of charge, has limited places. To book your place, please register at www.le.ac.uk/turbulent
