Appeal following assault in Market Harborough
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old man was assaulted in Market Harborough.
The assault took place between 12am and 12.30am in the early hours of Saturday May 30, 2009 when the victim was walking along the High Street towards Leicester Road with friends after a night out.
As they neared St Dionysius Church on Church Square, they became aware of a group of five youths.
An altercation took place between the two groups during which the victim was knocked to the ground and assaulted.
He attended Kettering General hospital for treatment to his injuries.
Two men aged 29 and 31 who were arrested in connection with the incident were cautioned.
Another man aged 18 has been also been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Mary Gracey, who is investigating this incident, said: "This assault left the victim with serious injuries including a fractured eye socket, a broken front tooth and bruising and he has obviously been left extremely upset by the incident.
"We are hoping that people making their way home after an evening out will remember seeing the incident. If so then we'd urge you to get in touch.
“We are also eager to trace a car which pulled up during the incident and three youths got out became involved in the assault. Do you know the occupants of the car? Perhaps you saw it and can recall the make or model?
"Any information you can give us about the incident, no matter how small, could prove vital to the investigation."
