Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Monday June 1, on the A46, Fosse way at Seagrave Crossroads and involved two vehicles, a beige Nissan Micra and a dark blue Alfa Romeo.

80-year-old Mr Anthony Hardisty of Long Eaton, the driver of the Nissan Micra, received serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where he died later the following evening (June 2).

The passenger of the Nissan Micra received minor injuries.

The driver of the Alfa Romeo also received minor injuries. Both were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Detective Constable Nick Bryan, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The two vehicles were travelling in the Leicester bound lane of the carriageway and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen the two vehicles at the time of the incident to contact us.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with a cyclist who we believe to have been on the A46 at the time of the collision.”
