Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery in Evington.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Thursday May 21, when the 22-year-old victim was hit from behind as he was walking along Evington footpath from St James Street.

A man, who was with another man, then demanded the victim hand over his property. After he handed over his property the two men then walked down Evington footpath away from St James Street.

The men left the scene with the victim’s white leather wallet that had the three lions crest on it, a quantity of cash and a stainless steel watch.

The man who demanded the property is described as black aged in his late twenties to early thirties and around 6’5” tall. He is of a stocky build and had brown eyes. He was wearing a blue top with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms and a white and red striped scarf across his face.

The victim received minor injuries as a result of the robbery and attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Detective Constable Steve Hadden, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim has been left upset and shaken as a result of the incident and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen the incident or who may have any information.

“If you was in the area at the time or can remember seeing someone matching the description at that time then we would like to hear from you, no matter how insignificant your information may seem.”
