Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft from a shop on Henton Road, Leicester.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Friday May 22, when three youths entered the shop, Henton’s Grocery, and stole a quantity of alcohol.

On seeing the youths with the alcohol the owner attempted to prevent them from leaving the shop and there was as struggle between them. As a result of this she received injuries to her arm and attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Two of the youths left the shop with the alcohol and ran off in the direction of Hinckley Road. The third youth left the shop in the direction of Glenfield Road.

One of the youths is described as white, aged around 16 to 17-years-old, about 5’6” tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a top with the hood pulled up.

Another from the group is described as white, aged around 16 to 17-years-old, approximately 5’10” tall and of a slim build. He had short dark hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a black hooded top and black trousers.

The third youth is described as white, about 5’6” tall and of a slim build. He had short fair hair and was wearing a black t-shirt and black trousers.

PC Steve Waft, the officer investigating the incident said: “The victim has been left shaken by the incident and has had to have an operation on her arm.

“We are appealing to anyone who has information on the theft and those involved to contact us. We are particularly interested to speak with a customer who was in the shop at the time of the incident.

“If you can remember being in the area at the time and seeing three youths matching the description, then we would like to hear from you.”
