Assault on Knighton Park in Leicester
Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old girl was assaulted on Knighton Park in Leicester.
The incident happened at about 8.30pm on Friday May 22, 2009 when the victim was walking with a group of friends towards the bridge in the middle of the park. She was approached by a group of girls who punched her in the face and body.
Following the assault the victim walked away from the park in the direction of Leicester Road, but was followed by the girls. They attempted to approach her again but her friends stopped them.
She received a chipped front tooth and reddening to both cheeks as a result of the assault.
Three 15-year-old girls were arrested in connection with the incident and have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
PC Gemma Burdett, who is investigating the incident, said: “Knighton Park would have been fairly busy at this time on a Friday evening and we believe a large group of young people witnessed this incident.
“I would urge anybody else who may have been on the park that evening and may have seen what happened to contact me.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 4629 Gemma Burdett on (Leicester) 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4629. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
