Chief Superintendent Chris Rollings, Director of Service Excellence at Leicestershire Constabulary with one of the taxis
Leicestershire Constabulary launched the latest phase of its Policing Pledge campaign today (June 9, 2007), with a fleet of taxis advertising the level of service the people of Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland can expect from the police.
The Policing Pledge is a set of promises to local residents that not only provides more information about local policing, but also gives the public a stronger voice in telling the police what they think is most important and what concerns them most locally. Launched at the end of last year, the pledge contains ten commitments which inform the public of the standard of service they should expect.
Chief Superintendent Chris Rollings, Director of Service Excellence at Leicestershire Constabulary, said: “We are already committed to providing a second to none service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. However, we want to provide an even better service by getting personal with the public and working together to solve the things that really matter to them locally.
“We hope that by communicating our Pledge on the outside and inside taxis will help people understand what they can expect from us.”
Leicestershire Constabulary is advertising on 25 taxis for a month long period, with each taxi containing four different messages; two outside on the side of the taxi and two displayed inside on the taxi’s tip seats.
Chief Superintendent Rollings added; “We’ve taken out media advertising on taxis because they have been proven to be a very effective way of getting our message across, not just in the city but all around Leicestershire as they travel the county area.
“Using this method of advertising means our Policing Pledge promises will be visible to the public on the streets – 24/7 – raising awareness of the service they should expect to receive from us.”
Promises in the Pledge include holding monthly meetings to review local priorities, making police officers available to the public at a time to suit their personal needs and keeping victims of crime regularly updated.
