Appeal following spate of thefts from cars in Shepshed
Police are appealing for witnesses after a spate of theft from motor vehicles in Shepshed.
The first incident happened on Tamworth Close, overnight between Tuesday June 2 and Wednesday June 3 when thieves gained entry to the vehicle and stole a number of items.
Throughout the following week there were another three thefts from motor vehicles on Piper Close, Newark Close and Springfield Rd. In all incidents a window was smashed and items were taken.
Some of the items taken from the cars include an IBM laptop in a black laptop case, a Panasonic digital camera, a silver Apple Ipod a blue Nokia mobile phone and a Sony walkman.
PC Phil Martindale, one of the officers investigating the incidents, said: “We are keen to get these items back to their owners and are hoping that by releasing details of the incidents the public will contact us with any information they have.
“We would also like to remind motorists about the importance of taking any items of value out of their vehicles when leaving them unattended.
“If you were a witness to one of the incidents or know who was involved then we want to hear from you. Any information you have, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1799 Phil Martindale on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1799.
