Recycle week 2009
Posted on 16/06/2009
Highways, Transportation & Waste Management
An action packed week aimed at encouraging people to reduce the amount of waste they produce is to be held.
Recycle Week, themed ‘Let’s waste less’, runs from Monday, 22nd June to Sunday, 28th June.
As usual, Leicestershire County Council and the Leicestershire Waste Partnership have a busy week planned to promote waste reduction.
This could be by making use of your kerbside collections and recycling more everyday items such as paper and cans, or by minimising the amount of food waste you create.
There are many ways in which we can all minimise the amount of waste which is sent unnecessarily to landfill every year, so why not think about what you could do?
The following roadshows will take place during Recycle Week:
Monday, 22nd June - Ashby town centre, 9.30am-3.30pm
Tuesday, 23rd June - Grove Park, Enderby, 11am-2.30pm
Thursday, 25th June - Loughborough Market, 9am-3pm
Saturday, 27th June - Stoke Golding Music Festival, Stoke Golding Village Hall, 1pm-6pm
Sunday, 28th June - Melton Country Show, 9am-5pm
The council’s Waste Management team will also be running a roadshow for staff in County Hall on Wednesday, 24th June, to make them aware of how much we waste at work and at home.
For more information visit www.leics.gov.uk/waste or please call 0116 305 7005.
Notes: The Leicestershire Waste Partnership includes the seven districts of Blaby, Charnwood, Harborough, Hinckley & Bosworth, Melton, North West Leicestershire, and Oadby & Wigston, together with the County Council.
