Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on a woman in Melton.

The incident happened at around 12.30am on Wednesday June 10, when the 19-year-old victim was grabbed on the arm by a man on Warwick Road, near to Ankle Hill.

The victim kicked the man and he released his grip. She then ran off in the direction of Dalby Road.

The man was described as white, aged in his late twenties, around 6ft tall with an unshaven appearance and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top, with the hood up and dark jeans.

PC Derek Reid, the officer investigating the incident, said: “Thankfully the victim was not harmed in this incident, but we are keen to speak with this man as his intentions are unclear.

“If you were in the area at the time and can remember seeing the incident or a man matching the description, we want to hear from you.

“Any information you have about the man or the incident, we would like to hear, no matter how insignificant it may seem.”
