Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an incident in the Highfields area.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Tuesday June 9, 2009 when two groups of men were involved in an altercation on Myrtle Road.

The altercation moved onto nearby Guildford Street before one of the groups made off.

During the incident, a 23-year-old man received an injury to his leg and received treatment at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Seven men aged 30, 27, 23, 22, 17 and two 19-year-olds, have been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Michelle Bigg, who is investigating this incident, said: “We have been making numerous enquiries into this incident including speaking to local residents and viewing potential CCTV footage.

“We know that there were several people who may have witnessed the incident or the events surrounding it who have yet to come forward and speak to us. We would urge these people to please get in touch with any information they have as this could be crucial to the investigation.
