Officers are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a newsagents in Leicester.

The incident took place between 6pm on Tuesday June 9 and 6.45am on Wednesday June 10, 2009 when A-Z Newsagents near to Mary Road was broken into.

The thieves broke into the store and stole a large quantity of cigarettes and spirits.

PC Liz Gee, who is investigating the incident, he said:  "At around 11.30pm a nearby resident heard banging coming from the property and saw two people running away.

“I would urge anyone who heard or witnessed something and has not yet spoken to the police to contact us. 

“I would also appeal to anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area beforehand to contact us.  Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could assist with our enquiries."
