Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a distraction burglary in Swadlincote.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Wednesday June 17 on New Street, when the victim, a man in his nineties, answered the door to two men who were claiming to be from the water board.

The victim briefly let the men into the house to discuss the problem.

The men left a short while later.

Upon inspection it was found that digital camera had been stolen from the property.

The camera was a silver, Hewlett Packard, Photosmart camera.

Detective Constable Paul Davies, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We are appealing for witnesses following the burglary in the hope that someone will contact us with information that will help us with our investigation.

“Was you in the area at the time of the incident? Can you remember seeing two men acting suspiciously? Has something similar happened to you or someone you know? Any information that you have, that you think could help us with our investigation, we want to hear.”
