22 June 2009Helpline offers holiday help for parents

Families looking for summer activities for children and young people can find out all the information they need from a revamped helpline.

With the holidays fast approaching, details of local play schemes, sports and leisure sessions and more are available from the County Council's Family Information Service.

The phoneline provides advice, guidance and information to parents of 0 19 year olds and now includes help on a range of different subjects - from healthy eating, through to play and leisure activities for the whole family.

It is staffed by a team of information specialists and is a one-stop-shop for parents and carers in Leicestershire.

Ivan Ould, County Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "Keeping children entertained during the summer can be a real struggle for parents.

"The Family Information Service can help people to find activities that children might enjoy. During the summer there will be holiday and play schemes as well as leisure and sport activities, which our friendly staff can help parents find."

Please contact the Family Information Service on 0116 305 6545 or email family@leics.gov.uk for more details.
