Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a boat engine from a boat secured at a private marina on Warren Lane in Lockington.

The incident happened sometime between 4pm on Wednesday May 17, 2009 and 2pm on Friday May 19, 2009 when thieves gained entry to the marina.

A 4 foot high, 40kg two stroke red and grey Marina engine was removed from a boat inside the marina. The engine is worth approximately £1,300.

PC Paul Anderson, who is investigating this incident, said: “The owner is extremely keen to trace this engine. It is quite distinctive as most boats are now powered by a four stroke engine.

“I would appeal to anybody that may have been offered an engine matching this description to contact me.

“If you witnessed this incident, saw any suspicious vehicles at the marina or have any information about who may be responsible then please get in touch.”
