Car during Loughborough burglary
Officers are appealing for public help after a car was stolen during a burglary in Loughborough.
The burglary took place sometime between 10.30am and 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday June 23, 2009) at a home on Clawson Close.
The property was entered and a number of items were stolen including paperwork and documents and a Compaq V5000 laptop.
At around 4.35am this morning (Wednesday June 24, 2009), the victim was woken by a noise outside and upon investigating saw his vehicle, a blue Vauxhall Omega registration number YD52 LKC, being driven off his driveway.
Officers believe the thieves stole the spare keys to car during the burglary and used them to take the vehicle.
PC Paul Smith, from the North West Leicestershire local policing unit, said: "Unfortunately the victim was not aware the spare keys had been taken during the burglary and the car was at risk of being stolen.
“I would like to appeal to anyone who saw the car being stolen or perhaps knows of its whereabouts now to contact us.
“Alternatively, if anyone has any information regarding the burglary or can recall any suspicious activity in the area that could be linked to this incident please get in touch with us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1349 Paul Smith on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1349. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
