Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Kibworth.

The incident happened in Harborough Road, between 8.30am and 7.20pm on Tuesday, June 23.

The 54-year-old victim returned home to find access had been gained to his house and property, including an Apple Mac laptop, Playstation3, Toshiba laptop, Panasonic video camera and a quantity of jewellery had been taken.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Claire Murray, who is investigating the incident said: “We are appealing for witnesses to the incident and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously.

“Maybe you saw someone getting into a parked vehicle? Did you see someone running away from the area, or someone carrying property or bags.

“If so we would like to hear from you as any information you may have could help with our enquiries.

“We would also like to remind people to keep their doors and windows locked and secure when they are not in. During the hot summer days it can be tempting to leave windows open. However, a lot of burglaries are carried out on the spur of the moment by opportunist thieves. They may see an open window or easy entry point and take their chance.”

Anyone with information is asked to call PC 4445 Claire Murray on Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted key in heridentification number 4445. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
