Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in New Walk.

The incident happened on Monday, June 1 at around 11am when the 44-year-old victim was walking towards Upper New Walk. He was approached by the suspect, who asked him for money, before threatening to assault him.

The suspect made off towards London. Road. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as female, white, aged between 15 and 17-years-old and around 4’4” tall. She was of slim build with short light brown hair and was wearing blue jeans.

DC Matt Robinson, who is investigating the incident said: “This incident has left the victim scared. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident. New Walk is a busy area used by lots of pedestrians. Maybe you were on your way to a busy meeting? Or taking an early lunch?

“We would ask people to think back to the day in question. If you remember seeing anything suspicious at all please get in touch.

“We would also like to speak to anyone else who believes they have been approached by a woman in similar circumstances.
