Robbery at a store on Abbey Lane
Officers are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a store on Abbey Lane.
The incident happened at around 5.10pm yesterday (Monday June 29, 2009) when two youths entered the store near to Red Hill Circle.
The youths threatened the shop keeper with what are believed to have been firearms and assaulted him. They took a Rolex watch belonging to the shop keeper and made off.
He received minor injuries during the robbery and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The first suspect is described as being of dual heritage appearance, around 5'6 tall and of medium build. He was wearing black hooded top, black bottoms with white stripes down the leg and black Adidas trainers. He also had a black and white checked scarf covering his face.
The second suspect is described as around 6'2" tall and of muscular build. He was wearing a red Nike fleece hooded top with Nike written in gold across chest, 3/4 length shell suit type material trouser and white Nike trainers.
Detective Sergeant David Speight, who is investigating the incident, said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and we are still trying to piece to together the events of what happened.
“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen the two youths leaving the store or perhaps in the area prior to the robbery.
“Any information you have could be vital to our enquiries so please get in touch.”
