Police are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at an address on Lichfield Avenue in Broughton Astley.

The incident happened sometime between 6.15am and 6.15pm on Thursday June 25, 2009, when thieves broke into a garage at the side of the property.

A large number of fishing equipment and a boat motor were stolen from the garage but thieves were unable to gain entry to inside the house.

PC Claire Murray, who is investigating the incident, said: "We believe that with such a large amount taken from the property that the items could be sold on for cash.

"If you are approached by anyone who is attempted to sell you fishing equipment, who you feel may be suspicious, then we want to hear from you.

"We would also like anyone who was in the area and who saw the incident take place to contact us. It may be that you know those involved or are aware of someone who has recently acquired some fishing equipment in suspicious circumstances. Any information you have, we want to hear."

Anyone with information is asked to call PC 4445 Claire Murray on Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 4046. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
