Assault on Wilberforce Road
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on a 28-year-old man.
The incident happened at around 11.15pm on Saturday June 27, as the victim and his three friends were approached by a group of around 20 to 30 youths on Wilberforce Road.
An altercation occurred between the two groups and the victim was then chased by the youths in the direction of Braunstone Gate.
The group then caught the victim and assaulted him. The victim was knocked unconscious and woke to find the group had gone.
The victim has received a broken arm, cuts and scratches as a result of the assault and attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.
PC Carrie Little, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim has been left shocked and scared and we are hoping that the public will help us find those responsible.
“Given the time of the incident many people would have been out in the Narborough Road and Braunstone Gate area of the city and it is these people we are appealing to. Can you remember seeing a large group of youths in the area? Did you see where they were prior to the incident or after? Do you know any of those involved?
“We hope that any information you have you will pass to us and help us with our investigation.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4558 Carrie Little on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 4558. Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers free* and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
