Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in the Narborough Road area of the city.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 13 between 12.30am and 1.20am. The 38-year-old victim approached a woman in Westleigh Road who appeared to be heavily intoxicated to try and help her.

It is believed they turned right into Fosse Road South and then into Narborough Road. At some point on this journey he was assaulted.

He received injuries to his face and head and required hospital treatment.

PC Becky Booth, who is investigating the incident said: It is unclear at this stage exactly what happed as the victim cant recall the full events leading up to the incident.

However, we are working to piece together what happened and are appealing for the publics help. In particular, we would like to speak to the woman the victim was helping in Westleigh Road. She could have vital information which will help with our enquiry. If this was you, or you know who it was, please get in touch.

We would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could help us.
