Appeal following incident in city centre
Police in the city are appealing for witnesses following the report of an incident in Churchgate, Leicester.
The incident happened at around 12.15am on Sunday July 5, when two men were involved in an altercation. Around three other men were also involved in the incident.
One man attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to an injury on his leg and has since been discharged. A second man also attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to an injury on his arm and is still in the hospital.
Three men, aged 21, 24and 32-years-old, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Two of the men have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
PC Peter Daniels, the officer investigating the incident, said: “As the incident happened on a Saturday night it is very likely that there are witnesses who we have not yet spoke to, it is these people we are appealing to.
“If you were in the area of Churchgate at the time of the incident and can remember seeing the altercation then we want to speak with you.
“Do you know any of those involved? Did you see what happened prior to the incident? Any information you have could help us piece together the events surrounding the incident so we want you to call us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 219 Peter Daniels on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0219. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
