Police are appealing for witnesses after a 45-year-old man was robbed in Thrumaston.

The incident happened at around 7.45am this morning (Tuesday July 7) when the victim was approached by three men as he rode his bike along the canal path running from Watermead Park to Mill Lane.

One of the men pulled the victim from his bike and demanded he hand over his mobile phone. All three men then began to hit the victim before leaving with his mobile phone and bike.

The victim received injuries to his leg and but did not attend hospital.

The bike is described as being red and silver with black coloured spokes. It also has a computerised milometer on it.

The phone taken was a silver Nokia, 265, slide phone.

Two of the suspects were white and one of them was Asian. They were all of a medium build. One of the white men had a number of letters tattooed onto his left hand.

PC Tony Fairclough, the officer investigating the incident said: “The victim has been left very shaken by this incident and we are hoping that by appealing to the public we will find the suspects and be able to return the bike and phone back to its owner.

“If you were in the area at the time of the incident and can remember seeing any men that match the description then we want to talk to you. You may know who was involved? You may have seen where they were before or after the incident? Have you saw a bike similar to the one described since the incident?

“If you have any information on this and think it will help us with our investigation, then we want to hear it.”
