Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have named two men who died following a fatal road traffic collision in Ibstock.

The collision occurred at around 8.50pm yesterday (Tuesday July 7, 2009) on Leicester Road approximately 70 metres east of its junction with Richmond Road and involved two vehicles, a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Rover 75.

The driver of the Corsa, Mr Anthony Leigh Richard Lorimer (18) of Coalville, Leicestershire received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger in the Corsa, Mr Leon Thomas Poxon (18) of Coalville, Leicestershire received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rear seat passenger in the Corsa received serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where her condition is described as serious.

The driver of the Rover received minor injuries but did not attend hospital.

Detective Constable Gary Mundy, from the Force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen either car before the collision occurred to get in touch with me.”
