Exciting performance opportunities coming for young disabled groups in Leicester

University of Leicester
The Richard Attenborough Centre at the University of Leicester has received funding to run a series of arts performance projects for disabled young people in Leicester, in collaboration with a host of exciting artists and companies, including the internationally renowned Candoco Dance Company.
Thanks to funding from Yoppital Wonga, Leicester City Councils Youth Opportunity Fund, The Richard Attenborough Centre will be able to offer young people below the age of 25, at schools and other venues, the opportunity to work with some of the countrys finest performers and artists.
Companies involved in the scheme include Candoco Dance Company, the contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers; music workshops and performance with The Drones; Drake Musics music technology workshops; instrument making with Giles Leaman; and a workshop and performance by Kazzum Theatre of their new show, Beginning with Blobs.
Juliet Martin, Performing Arts Manager at The Richard Attenborough Centre, commented: Funding these projects at The Richard Attenborough Centre will enable many disabled young people, their carers and families across Leicester the opportunity to workshop with some of the country's finest performers and artists.
These are amazing opportunities and thanks to the Yoppital Wonga funding the Centre is particularly delighted to welcome so many talented artists to share their skills.
