Woman robbed of handbag in Humberstone
Police in Humberstone are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed.
The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Friday July 3, 2009 on Vicarage Lane.
The 40-year-old victim was walking towards Humberstone and noticed a youth walking towards her. As she neared the junction with Lobbs Wood Close, he suddenly grabbed the victim and threatened her with what is believed to have been a knife.
He pulled her onto the ground before stealing her handbag from her shoulder and running off towards communal gardens nearby.
The tan coloured duffle bag contained keys and a purse with a quantity of cash and bank cards. The bag was later found under bushes on Scraptoft Lane with the keys in it.
The suspect is described as black, around 16-years-old, of medium build and about 5’10” tall. He was wearing a black top with the hood up, black trousers and trainers. He had a round face and spoke with a local accent.
PC Alex Catlow, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim found the robbery very shocking and frightening.
“We're appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch. If you did see what happened or have any information in relation to this incident, then we want to hear from you."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 2053 Alex Catlow on 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 2053. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
