Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 19 year old man suffered serious head injuries during a fight in Loughborough town centre.

The ambulance service was called at 4.07pm on Tuesday 14th July 2009 following reports that a man had been injured in a fight on Granby Street at its junction with Packe Street involving a group of men.  It’s thought the fight broke out at around 3.40pm.  A 19 year old man has been taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious head injuries.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of affray. Part of nearby Biggin Street in Loughborough has been cordoned off while a forensic examination takes place.

Detective Inspector Simon Shuttleworth, from Loughborough CID, said; “This fight took place in broad daylight in a busy part of town and we are sure it will have been witnessed by a number of people who we’d like to speak to.  We understand that some motorists had to drive around the people involved in the fight and they may have information that is useful to us in trying to establish why it broke out and who was involved.”
