Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft from a van parked at a golf course on Gypsy Lane in Leicester.

The incident happened sometime between 11am and 12.20pm on Monday July 6, 2009 when thieves stole property from the back of a white Vauxhall Combo van parked in a car park at the golf course.

Stolen from the van was a Seba KMT digital correlator, a piece of equipment used by water companies to search for water leaks in pipes under the ground.

The charger for a satellite navigation system was also stolen.

PCSO Tommy L’Homme, from Keyham Lane police station, said: “The stolen correlator is worth a substantial amount of money and understandably the water company are keen to get it back.

“I would like to ask all water companies to be extra vigilant and if they are approached by anybody who is attempting to sell the, such a device we want them to contact us.

"I would appeal to anybody who saw any suspicious activity in the Gypsy Lane between the above times to contact police.

“Also, if you’ve been offered or found any equipment matching this description please get in touch.
