Re-appeal after man suffers head injuries following Loughborough incident
Detectives are re-appealing for witnesses after a 19 year old man suffered serious head injuries during a fight in Loughborough town centre.
The incident happened at around 3.40pm on Tuesday July 14, 2009 when a fight broke out involving a group of youths on Granby Street at its junction with Packe Street.
A 19-year-old man received serous head injuries during the incident and was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where his condition is described as critical.
Two youths aged 15 have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Chris Hewgill, from Loughborough CID, said; “Officers have being making extensive enquiries into this incident and we now believe the fight started after a previous altercation between two groups of youths on Saturday afternoon on Baxtergate in the town.
"We would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this or has any information regarding those involved.
“We are still keen to speak to any motorists had to drive around the people involved in the fight as it spilled onto the road and we also understand that several people were overheard talking about the fight in a nearby café shortly after the incident.
“If there is anyone who witnessed the incident or the altercation on Saturday and has not yet contacted police, we would urgent them to get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DI 1486 Chris Hewgill on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 1486. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
