Officers from the Force’s Road Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision on Troon Way.

The collision occurred at about 8.35am on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at its junction with Nickalus Road and involved a white ERF HGV and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with life threatening injuries and has since been transferred to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where his condition is currently described as serious.

The driver of the HGV was not injured.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Steve Freer, from the Road Policing Unit, said: "We would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or either the vehicle or the pedestrian beforehand to please contact us.

"Any information you have could prove vital to our enquiries so please get in touch."
