Youth charged over graffiti in Leicester city centre
A teenager has been charged with criminal damage after graffiti was sprayed on five buildings in Leicester city centre.
Police officers were called to the area of the old Haymarket Theatre off Belgrave Gate at just after midnight on Tuesday July 14 after CCTV operators reported an incident of graffiti taking place.
Officers arrested two teenagers in Churchgate on suspicion of criminal damage. Following enquiries a 17-year-old was charged with criminal damage and bailed to appear at Youth Court. A 16-year-old boy was given a formal reprimand.
Leicestershire Constabulary is currently running the ‘Safer Summer’ campaign to reduce anti-social behaviour over the summer period. Neighbourhood officers across the Force are involved in a range of initiatives to tackle anti-social behaviour including underage drinking, street drinking, drugs misuse, begging, litter and graffiti.
