Warning following burglaries in Stadium Rise
Police in Beaumont Leys have stepped up patrols in the Stadium Rise Estate after a recent spate of burglaries.
A total of seven houses on Galleywood Drive, Peldon Close, Tiptree Close, Somerset Avenue and Parker Drive have been affected.
Neighbourhood beat officers are carrying out regular, high visibility patrols in the area in a bid to reduce the number of crimes.
PCSO Clare Bradley, from Beaumont Leys Local Policing Unit, said: “Over the next two months officers will be distributing free window alarms to local residents as a crime preventative measure and ask anyone who wants one to contact them.
“Similarly, local officers are also able to offer residents advice on keeping their homes safe and would like to encourage people in the community to contact them should they wish to discuss it.
“Having seen the rise in burglaries in the area we are hoping that our increased visibility will help to prevent any more from occurring, but there are also ways that residents in the area can help prevent themselves becoming victims.
“We advise the community to ensure that their houses are always kept secure, with all doors and windows kept locked when the house is left unattended and during the night.”
To report suspicious activity, or if you have any information about those responsible for burglaries in the Stadium RIse area, please call Leicestershire Constabulary on 0116 222 2222. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, which if free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
