Events for teddies and hard rockers at Beacon Hill
Posted on 23/07/2009
Community Services
There is something for all ages at Beacon Hill this Friday with events at both ends of the Country Park.
Younger children will enjoy the Teddy Bear’s Picnic which will take place from noon until 1.30pm, meeting at the Lower Beacon car park.
Adults should bring along a picnic, children under seven – and their teddies - for some fun activities organised by the Country Park Rangers. Tickets are £2.50 and booking is essential.
Older children and adults will enjoy the Geology and Archaeology guided walk. John Carney from the British Geological Survey and County Council Archaeologist Peter Liddle are leading a walk around some of Britain’s oldest rocks and the remains of the pre-historic hill fort.
The walk starts from the Upper Beacon car park at 2.30pm. Again, pre-booking is essential.
Tickets are £3 for adults, £2 for concessions, families are £8 including two children and two adults, or £5 for two children and one adult. Car parking is an additional £1.50.
Call 0116 305 8790 to book your places for these events, or for more information.
The guided walk is part of both the Festival of Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeology and the County Council’s ‘Discover Like Darwin’ programme of activities celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of scientist Charles Darwin.
