Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Coalville.

The incident happened between 11.55pm on Friday, July17 and 12.30am on Saturday, July 18 when the 46-year-old victim was in Belvoir Road.

He was approached from behind by the suspect and was assaulted, before falling to the ground.

He suffered bruising to the arm and did not require hospital treatment.

PC James Broomfield, the officer investigating the incident, said: “This incident has left the victim extremely shocked and shaken.

“It happened on a busy road on a weekend night and it is likely someone may have witness what happened.

“We would ask people to think back to last Friday and see if they remember anything at all. No matter how insignificant the information may seem to you, it could form a vital part of our investigation, so we would like to hear from you.”
