Jewellery stolen in Whitwick burglary
Police are appealing for public help following a burglary at a home in Whitwick.
The incident happened between 11.50am and 2pm on Wednesday July 22, 2009 on Hilary Crescent.
The occupants of the property had been in front garden and doing some housework when they discovered someone had come into the home through the unlocked side gate and made a search of a bedroom.
Stolen from the property was a silver jewellery box containing rings, necklaces and a yellow gold diamond engagement ring, two yellow gold eternity rings, two wedding rings.
PC Paul Anderson, who is investigating this incident, said: "The victims of this burglary have been left devastated by the loss of the jewellery as many items were of sentimental value to them.
“We are eager to trace those responsible and would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Hilary Crescent area at the time of the incident to please get in touch.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered similar items for sale in unusual circumstances.
“Police would also to remind people to keep ground floor windows shut and doors locked even if you are in your garden."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1921 Paul Anderson on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1921. Alternatively, you may contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
