Burglaries at a school in Beaumont Leys
Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of burglaries at a school in Beaumont Leys.
The incidents have all happened between Tuesday, June 23 and Saturday, July 18 when access was gained to English Martyrs School, in Anstey Lane
The first two incidents happened between 6pm on Tuesday, June 23 and 7am on Wednesday, June 24 and again between 5.45pm on Wednesday, June 24 and 6.30am on Thursday, June 25 when access was gained to mobile classrooms and laptops overhead projectors and computer monitors were taken.
On Sunday, July 5 at 10.50pm access was gained to the school and a mobile phone was taken as well as sports equipment.
Between 5.15pm on Friday, July 10 and 1pm on Saturday July 11 access was again gained to the premises. It is not know if anything was taken in this incident.
The latest incident happened on Saturday, July 18 at around 12.15am when police attended a report of a burglary at the same premises.
PCSO Clare Bradley, from Beaumont Leys local policing unit said: “Patrols have been increased in the area and we are working with the school and the council to try and prevent any further incidents.
“However, we would like the publics help in trying to trace those responsible and would ask people to think back to the dates in question and see if you remembers seeing anyone acting suspiciously in the area.
“The rear grounds of the school back onto Groby Road and it is possible this is how access is being gained to the site. If you live in this area and have seen anything suspicious please get in touch as the information you may have could help with out enquiry.”
