Ye Olde Medieval News from the Manor House

Donington le Heath Manor House, a hidden gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, is a fantastic local attraction steeped in history with much to offer to its visitors.

The 2009 edition of the Donington le Heath’s Manor House News is bursting with lots of interesting information and fun events happening this year at the unique 13th Century restored manor house run by Leicestershire County Council.

This colourful medieval style newsletter includes features on: things to do at Donington, education and learning at the House, the history of the House, news on the 17th century gardens, theatre performances, talks and concerts, group visits, events and exhibitions, Classics Tea Room and how to find us!

The new keeper of the Manor House, Richard Knox, said,"It’s great to see another annual newsletter jam-packed full of exciting information, which highlights what a gem the Manor House is. I hope this newsletter will encourage more of the local population to discover the site, fall in love with it and visit us regularly. We have a lot on offer at the house and aim to provide something for everyone over the year."

Many of the events and exhibitions are free, so visitors will be able to enjoy the house and grounds as many times as they wish.

Donington’s theatrical performances are a regular Summer feature, with visitors enjoying picnics in the gardens whilst viewing a fun open air performance in the sunshine. We will be hosting a production of Merlin the Magician on the 31st July at 6.30pm. Tickets are available from the Manor House.

Visitors can also enjoy a warm or cold drink at the Classics Tea Room, which also sells home made cakes, light meals and runs themed evenings throughout the year.

Donington le Heath Manor House is open from 11am to 4pm February to December, and admission is free.
