24 July 2009Free child entry* to Twycross Zoo this summer

Leicestershire County Council is offering discount entry tickets to Twycross Zoo this summer for people travelling by bus to the attraction.

Residents with a copy of the councils Attractions by Bus guide can use the voucher inside to claim free child entry* to the zoo.

A copy of the Attractions by Bus guide can be downloaded from the Fun by Bus website at: www.leics.gov.uk/fun_by_bus.

Alternatively, call the Fun by Bus Crew on 0116 305 8777 or email passengertransport@leics.gov.uk

On Thursday, 23 July, Fun by Bus Crew staff will be holding a roadshow at Twycross Zoo, along with the local radio station Heart 106 FM. Amongst other activities, they will be giving away free goodie bags containing pens, crayons, stickers, activity sheets and bike reflectors.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet member for transportation, said: Travelling by bus is fun and takes away the stress of trying to find a parking spot when you get to an attraction. The number 7 bus service drops you right at the gate of Twycross Zoo.

Buses to Twycross Zoo are operated by Cresswells Coaches. Service 7 leaves from Market Street in Ashby de la Zouch every 90 minutes from 7am to 5.30pm. It takes around half an hour and a child fare costs just 82p one way. The bus to Twycross Zoo also operates in the other direction from Nuneaton Bus Station.

There are two services an hour to Ashby from Leicester. These are the number 26 and 29, both of which can be caught from St Margarets Bus Station.

Residents can log on to www.travelineeastmidlands.co.uk, for assistance in planning their travel. Alternatively, they can call Traveline on 0871 200 22 33. The number is available seven-days-a-week between 7am and 9pm.
