Man robbed of goped in Thorpe Astley
Officers are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Thorpe Astley.
The incident happened between 5pm and 6pm on Monday July 6, 2009 as the victim was pushing his Goped motorised scooter along Meridian Way.
As he turned right onto Foxon Way, he was approached by a group of youths who asked him to use his scooter. The victim refused and carried on walking.
The group followed the victim insisting a ride on the scooter. The victim agreed to let one of them have a short go in an attempt that they would leave him alone.
The boy had a short turn on the scoter but tried to ride off on it. The victim managed to grab the handlebars but was punched in the face by one of the youths.
He lost grip of the scooter and the boy rode off on it with the group towards Murby Way.
The goped has since been recovered in the Braunstone area. The victim was not injured during the incident.
Three youths aged 15 and three aged 10, 11 and 13 have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail pending further enquires.
PC Steve England, who is investigating the incident, said: “We believe a cyclist was riding by the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.
“We would appeal for anyone who saw the robbery or has any about what happened to urgently get in touch with police.”
