Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of three motorbikes in Castle Donnington.

On Sunday July 26, all three victims had left their bikes parked in the green car park at Donnington Park, while attending the Moto GP.

The first incident happened between 10am and 12.30pm, when the owner of the bike could not find his motorbike keys. The victim then returned to the car park to find his bike had been stolen.

The bike is a blue Yamaha R1 and the vehicle registration is V159 JDM.

The second incident happened between 11am and 4.30pm, when again the victim realised he could not find the keys to his bike. When he got to the car park the bike had gone.

The motorbike is a blue Honda CVR 600 RR and had a blue visor. The bike is believed to be worth around £4000. The vehicle registration is NU05 DZA.

The third incident happened between 10am and 5.15pm, when the victim returned to the car park from the race track to find that his motorbike and two helmets were gone.

The bike is a blue, purple and white Suzuki GSX 1400, vehicle registration DU56 YUK. One of the helmets has since been found but a silver and black helmet with a Samurai warrior on it is still missing.

PC Paul Anderson, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We appreciate that there would have been a lot of people and just as many bikes at Donnington Park on Sunday, but this also increases the likelihood of someone witnessing the thefts.

“It may be that the suspect was opportunistic and was not wearing any leathers or even a helmet. They may have caught your attention because they were hanging around in the car park.

“We want people who were at the Moto GP last Sunday, July 26, to think back. Were you parked in the green car park? Can you remember seeing someone acting suspicious in the area? Did you see someone trying keys in more than one motorcycle? Anything you think of could be of interest to us so we want to hear, no matter how insignificant it could seem.

“We also want bike dealers to make themselves aware of the stolen bikes and contact us if they are approached by anyone trying to sell them.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1921 Paul Anderson on 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 1921. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
