Police are appealing for witnesses after two incidents of theftat village churches.

The first incident happened at St Peters Church, Stonton Road, Church Langton, between 10am on Friday, July 24 and 8am on Saturday, July 25 when the suspect entered the open church and took around 1.50 from a donation box. An attempt to gain access to the vestry was also made.

The second incident happened at St John the Baptist Church, Church Street, Billesdon, between 9.30am and 2pm on Saturday, July 25 when the suspect entered the open church and took a donation box containing around 3.

Nothing else was taken in either incident.

Officers are looking into the possibility these incidents may be linked.

PC Michelle Palmer, who is investigating the incident said: These incidents have left the victim feeling disappointed.

"We would ask anyone who was in either of the villages and saw anyone acting suspiciously, or entering or leaving the churches to contact us.

Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could help us find those responsible.
