Officers from the Force’s Road Policing Unit are re-appealing for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision on Troon Way.

The collision occurred at about 8.35am on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at the junction with Nickalus Road and involved a white ERF HGV and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with life threatening injuries and has since been transferred to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. His condition remains serious but is described as improving.

The driver of the HGV was not injured.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Steve Freer, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I am keen to speak to the driver of a silver Vauxhall Astra who stopped at the scene following the incident and may have witnessed the collision.

“Since the collision a number of witnesses have contacted us but we still believe there may have been other people in the area at around the time of the incident, who are yet to come forward.

"Any information given will be treated in the strictest confidence. I would like anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they may think it is, to come forward as this could help with the ongoing investigation."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 674 Steve Freer on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 0674. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
