Visiting museums in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland couldnt be easier thanks to a new, free comprehensive guide produced by Leicestershire Museums Service.
With the Museums Guide, you can plan short trips to any one of 54 museums listed, or spend a whole day visiting a group of neighbouring museums.
Most museums offer free entry, are suitable for people with disabilities and have many other useful facilities. The guide is easy to use with information about the museums, opening times, internet details and learning opportunities, plus the estimated length of a visit - ranging from less than an hour to a full day at the bigger sites. The Museums Guide also has a map which may help in planning trips to museums in the same area.
Whatever your interest, theres something for everyone including local history, transport, family history, science and industry to windmills and fashion. You could even win 50 in a free prize draw, by giving feedback in a coupon in the guide.
Pick up your free guide from any museum or library in Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester City or from a local Tourist Information Centre. Copies can also be downloaded from www.leics.gov.uk/museumsguide More detailed information about Leicestershire County Council museums can be found on www.leics.gov.uk/museums or in the Leicestershire Events Guide which is also freely available from county museums and libraries and as a download from www.leics.gov.uk/events. More information on all of the museums listed in the new museums guide is available on the Leicestershire and Rutland Museum Forums website at www.lrmf.org.uk.
