Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Manton.

The collision happened at around 2pm yesterday (Wednesday August 5) in Uppingham Road just north of The Sounding Railway Bridge.

The collision involved two vehicles, a green Vauxhall Corsa and a white refrigerated goods vehicle.

The woman driver of the Vauxhall Corsa received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the refrigerated goods vehicle received minor injuries but did not receive hospital treatment.

Detective Sergeant Ivan Stafford, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The Corsa was travelling along the road from Oakham in the direction of Uppingham and the refrigerated vehicle was travelling in the opposite direction.

“We want anyone who saw the incident to call us.

“We would also like to appeal to anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident to contact us.”
