Distraction burglary in Melton

Distraction burglary in Melton
Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a distraction burglary in Kirby Bellars, Melton.
The incident happened at around 10.15am on Monday August 3, when a man claiming to be from Severn Trent Water knocked on the door of a house on Main Street.
The victims let the man into their house where he asked them to fill up a number of pans with water.
As the victims were doing this a second man entered their property and walked into the living room.
The second man then came into the kitchen where he stood for a couple of minutes with the first man before leaving the house.
The two men then walked off along Main Street in the direction of the A607.
The first man is described as white, about 5’10” tall, in his early 30’s and of a slim build. He had a long, clean shaven face and spoke with an Irish accent.
He had dark collar length hair and was wearing a dark coloured hat, blue denim jeans a dark long sleeved zip up top and dark tight gloves on.
The second man is described as white, 5’2” tall, in his late twenties and of a medium build. He had collar length, light brown hair and a rounded clean shaven face.
He was wearing a white collard t-shirt and blue denim jeans.
Detective Constable Sam Stevens, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The A607 is a busy road with lots of traffic on the way to Melton, we want people these people to think back.
“Did you see the men? Did you see where they went to or how they got there? Any information you have we would like to hear and would ask you to contact us.”
