Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a burglary at a house in Belton, Rutland.

The incident happened between 6pm on Tuesday July 28 and 10.30am on Thursday July 30, when a neighbour saw that windows and a door to the house, on Main Street, were open.

Upon further inspection it was found that someone had entered the house, searched the bedrooms and office before taking a number of items.

These include a men’s Celona watch, a yellow gold bracelet with sapphires and diamonds in it, an antique ladies engagement ring with an emerald and four diamonds in it and a variety of foreign coins.

PC Richard Spivey, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victims are eager to get their property back and we would like the publics help in finding them.

“We want people who live and visit the area to think back. Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in between July 28 and July 30 in the Main Street area? Do you know of anyone who has acquired items similar to those taken? Have you been approached by someone trying to sell those items to you?

“If you think you know anything about this incident and the stolen items then we want you to call us.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact PC 1384 Richard Spivey on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1384.
