Good luck message for post-16 students

Young people in Leicestershire awaiting their exam results are being wished the best of luck.

Over 3,000 students will collect the results of post-16 qualifications this Thursday (20th August).

Last year, Leicestershire's figures were the best ever and most schools reported rises. The county's overall average points score increased and students remained above the national average.

Young people who need guidance after receiving their results should seek help firstly from their own schools or colleges where staff will available to give advice on different options available.

Connexions can also provide further advice either through schools and colleges or local Connexions centres.

Ivan Ould, Cabinet Member for the Children and Young People's Service, said: "Young people have put in a tremendous amount of hard work, supported by teachers and parents, and I'd like to wish all those collecting their results the best of luck.

"In a toughening economic climate, skills will be even more important and I hope that students achieve the grades they need to set them on their desired career path."

Notes:

All results at this stage are provisional because they are subject to appeals and final statistical verification. Results are not usually published in a final form until the new term is well underway. Post-16 results depend on decisions made by students returning to school in September who have to decide whether to continue the first year of study into a full A-level or whether to 'cash in' results.
